The people have spoken and Kairos Music Group artist Soul Williams is doing more than just playing the leading role in creating a new way that the masses will look at Christian Hip-Hop, but actually assisting is establishing it as simply good music. With his debut single, “Secret Place” obtaining more than 200 spins within 2 days, Soul Williams and his collaborator B-Les has truly established a new sound and direction for Christian Hip-Hop.
During his tenure as a part of the ultra crunk Christian Hip-Hop group The Light (formerly known as Mobsters of Light(MOL)), Soul Williams, then known as Da Mediator, was known for bring the laid back lyrical heat. Spitting swagged out scripture filled rhymes, Williams not only established his rhyme style and flow; but also gave fans and himself, a real sense of who he is called to be. After 4 years of rocking the mic with the group, Soul Williams finally answered the call to go forward as a solo artist.
"My time came to depart from the group," Soul Williams said. "As difficult as it was for, God placed the instruction in my spirit to do-so I have to obey. Although the decision was tough, God knows what he's doing."
Although his season with the innovative group has come to an end, his establishment as an artist is certainly just beginning. With his upcoming collaboration project, Soul Williams is set showing fans that although there are many creative sides to this mighty man of God that has yet to be seen.
“I really just want to show people that I am a versatile artist,” Soul Williams continued. “I really want to explore and push myself to do things that I never thought about doing before and with the recharge of creativity that God has placed within me, it’s no doubt that fans will be impressed.”
New is definitely what you will get, with his debut project released through Kairos Music Group, Kairos Music Group Presents: The Making of Supreme Moments Vol. 1, Soul Williams has shown his ability to push and pull out abnormal creativity from other artists. With his inspired direction, Williams inspired and encouraged fellow Kairos Music Group Co-founder B-Les to rhyme over melodic and soulful filled beats.
“Soul [Williams] is definitely more into diverse styles of Hip-Hop,” B-Les said. “I was really into hardcore Hip-Hop back in the day, so to have exposure to someone with such a different musical ear is truly a blessing.”
Humbled, Williams states that it’s the two solo artists ability to pull various hidden talents out of each other that makes it easy to work on collaborations like the KMG project.
“B-Les is the type that definitely pushes you lyrically,” Williams said. “So I think that we both have the ability to lead each other into different and yet creative ways of thinking that we may not have thought about before. It’s cool that although we are solo artists we still have the ability to vibe like we did in the group.”
Creative is an understatement, Soul Williams is definitely putting a spin on the way the masses view Christian Hip-Hop and music as a whole…the question is, are you ready to join the movement?
