Sweden’s Erik Pettersson is better known as DJ/producer Sonic Union, one half of prolific progressive house pair Bastards of Funk and Sonic Union and co-founder, label owner and manager of Lowbit Records. With a DJing and production career spanning 17 years, his versatility, experience and sheer talent enables him to turn his hand to everything from DJing and producing to mastering and label management.
His technical prowess both behind the decks and the uniquely uplifting energy of his sets have to date seen him hold residencies in his native Sweden and Canada and DJ across Europe, Japan, USA, Canada and India, where he has played 2 mini-tours to date. As a renowned & respected producer, Erik has almost 150 releases to his name to date on such lauded labels as Anjunadeep, Mesmeric, Replug, Proton Music, Dopamine Music and Global Underground, and he has remixed artists including Quivver, Jim Rivers, Cid Inc, Dousk and Shiloh to name just a few. Coming up in 2014 are new collaborations with Khen, DNYO and Dale Middleton plus originals and remixes on Lowbit, Tribal Pulse, Classound and more, plus DJ gigs in around the world.
Erik is also the co-founder, owner and manager of Lowbit Records, which he has single-handedly grown into one of the most successful and respected labels in the industry. With a stellar roster of artists including Cid Inc, Roland Klinkenberg, deepfunk, Guy Mantzur, Luke Porter, Marcelo Vasami, Nikko.Z, Kobana, Dousk and many more, Lowbit is renowned for its consistent championing of top quality underground dance music, and its releases are regularly supported by some of the world’s biggest DJs including Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Carl Cox, Above & Beyond and Jaytech (to name just a few). No wonder Lowbit was hand-picked to host rooms at John Digweed’s sold-out Bedrock Records parties in London in 2012 and 2013.
With a packed DJing and production schedule plus a highly successful label and worldwide Lowbit parties to run, it’s no wonder that Erik has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the hardest-working DJ/producers out there. But as the saying goes, there’s no rest for the wicked – this Swede has a lot more up his sleeve for 2014 and beyond, so stay tuned…
