Sonic Belligeranza is both the name of an indipendent music label and of a collective whose aim moves in two directions at once: internal, update through production and distribution the ultra-reactionary Italian electronic dance music soundscape; external, produce innovative releases from Italy influenced by the most recent developings of the experimental electronic core scene. Deliberately evasive towards journalists labelling hysteria, S.B. continously conjure up new improbable and contradictory terms whenever they are asked to describe their music: from hard-electronics blaxploitation, to straight-edge ragga, political noize, folk-core…. But the point is, it has to be based on black rhythm (drum’n'bass, hip-hop, dancehall ragga) and it has to feature power-electronics and extreme noize! S.B is directed by, writer and producer, dj Balli (Riccardo Balli - balli333@gmail.com) and is part of an emerging transversal network – widespread in countries like France, U.K., Germany and U.S.A., but still pretty invisible in Italy – of labels, djs, producers, ‘zines, party organizers, and alternative records distributors,that consider strange music as a strange attractor of social warfare. In this context, S.B. loves to define its own activities as a political project shaped in sonic metaphors. In fact, just as the alchemists proceed towards the transmutation of the Material through a multitude of techniques and rituals, so Sonic Belligerants intend to transform distorted frequencies, white noise, broken-up beats and sonic aggressiveness into social warfare. http://belligeranza.c8.com
