Early mix of a collaboration between Some Desperate Glory and The October Cell. Kind of an ambitious track. It is about a super virus being unleashed into the world.Quiet Trauma Uploaded by somedesperateglory Start following Send a message on May 22, 2009 23:03
More experimental than most of my stuff. Lot's of automation on the drums, alchemy is used for the bass synthesizer, and the noises are Reaktor.Send My Roots Rain Uploaded by somedesperateglory Start following Send a message on May 11, 2009 18:49

nice trash/hardcore bit there :)

@raytrace: Yeah, the addictive drums plugin sounds so real to me. Changing velocity changes the character of the drum hit... amazing.

@raytrace: Reaktor is my best friend. ;-)

@somedesperateglory: i'm curious, which ensemble? your own creation or one of the bundled programs?
- somedesperateglory on April 13, 2009 16:59
@somedesperateglory: A custom ensemble built by my friend Der Einmeier... I am sure he would let me send it to you if you're interested.

This track is pretty personal. The drums are XLN Audio's wonderful Addictive Drums, the guitar is my Les Paul Standard through NI Guitar Rig, the bass is a cheap English bass guitar also through Guitar Rig, and the glitchy noises are Reaktor. - 13 Warsaw (Live at Berkeley Square) Artwork

This Joy Division cover was recorded live in Berkeley, California on May 2, 1995. The bass is the lovely Korg M1, the synth sound in the chorus is the Sequential Prophet-600. The vocals are routed through a ProCo RAT-2 distortion pedal and a Radioshack Reverb, for that lo-fi effect. This track... - Love is Not Control Artwork

a classic break right there :)
- somedesperateglory on April 09, 2009 19:35
@raytrace: I was going for the early 90s techno vibe, mixing breakbeats with electronic drums... i like how it turned out. Lots and lots of layering.
- Candle Nine on April 14, 2009 09:51
@somedesperateglory: Well, you definitely pulled it off.

i'm liking what i hear. ever hear of a group/artist called Hate Dept.? cuz you sound really similar. i do have to say that your vocals need a bit of work, but they aren't terrible. good stuff you got so far.
- somedesperateglory on April 10, 2009 15:45
@Cyclops_Overlord: Ha... my old band opened up for Hate Dept. in 1995. Thanks for the feedback.

@raytrace: that is 2 ABLs playing different acid lines and some Reaktor madness!

I like this one. It uses Audiorealism ABL for the 303 acid lines (there are three instances of it on the track) and lots of drums. The drums are primarily Battery, with a lot of layering of acoustic and electronic drums. There is a bit of Ultrabeat and ADM for the 909 kick in there as well. T... - The Darkness Artwork

This is probably my most personal song. There is a lot of Camel Audio's Alchemy on this track. It is amazing how you can load a loop into it and use it as a source for all the additive synthesis techniques. I made a drum loop in Battery, then loaded it into Alchemy. That is the distorted basi... - Your Words Artwork

I like the vocal effect during the chorus. did you clone the same track, or did you record each vocal track separately?
- somedesperateglory on April 24, 2009 13:02
@official.version: Each vocal track is recorded separately. So there are three Carl's singing in the chorus if I remember correctly.

Quite personal and dark. Lot of guitar in the chorus, along with 303 lines from the ABL and 909 from ADM. The verse drums are from a heavily compressed Addictive Drums instance. This track has a lot of NI Massive on it as well. Not as much Reaktor. - Addict Artwork

really wam sounding here - it is amazing that its FM8 - I so often only think of it for sharp/abrasive/'digital-y' noises
- somedesperateglory on April 09, 2009 19:47
@raytrace: FM8 is a hell of a plug in. Hard to program, but sounds amazing.

Again, quite personal, but not quite as dark. ;-) This one has lots of Reaktor for the crazy beats. It also uses Battery for the more straight ahead percussion and beats. The bass line is a arppegiated instance of FM8. The pad sound in the beginning is Alchemy.
Not getting into the vocals one bit.
@Candle Nine: To each their own, dude. Do you not like the into vocals, or for the whole song?
@somedesperateglory: They just seem to be a little out-of-place, or overactive er something.
