This is the 3rd thing we played at our 2nd gig together - as I've said before, I've never come across a musician who listens as closely as Daniel, or reacts as fast to what he hears - there are moments in this that I wasn't aware of happening at the time, but coming back to mix the recordings, I was laughing at just how intuitive his response to what I was doing was. A truly remarkable musician.
So this is the 2nd track from our forthcoming album... We've got two whole gigs of this stuff - just planning how best to release it all... epic collection of music, or 3 40 minute albums? We'll see... :)
As before, please check out Daniel's amazing solo album on bandcamp - http://colfax.bandcamp.com/album/tape

I hear something that goes straight in, that first struck note...

@nailmusic: yeah, there are NO programmed beats anywhere on the album. All played live. He's truly amazing. And he does that with one hand, while playing synth or Gravikord with the other... post-human genius :)

@solobasssteve: Handsonic? Freaking awesome. He's actually doing what I hear in my head - amazing stuff. Is he on Twitter? Will try to hook up a date with him when out West doing "100 years". Nice!

@nailmusic: Daniel's Handsonic playing is SO so great - his ability to bend to the, er, idiosyncratic timing in my loops is just perfect. Just wait til you hear the rest of the album. You two need to meet when you make it out to the West Coast...

@Artemis Robison: would be lots of fun to see what happened with Daniel on guitar. Or pretty much any other instrument he chose to pick up :D

exquisite. so glad you shared this. was just thinking how fun it would be sometime to hear you two with daniel on guitar. then again it probably doesn't matter what he plays - you two just have a lovely rapport.

@michaelmathy: thanks! the combination of my stuff and Daniel's stuff makes for a really rich tapestry. :) He's playing synth with one hand, and Handsonic with the other, I've got two loops going - a single chord on one of them with a long sustain, and the thing that sounds like a step-filter that is actually a loop in the Looperlative with the 'medium scramble' setting on. :) Oh, and lots of lovely reverb :D

@oorlab: I'm playing bass (a Modulus fretted 6 string Quantum TBX that I borrowed for the tour) and Daniel is playing Handsonic (electronic hand drum thing) and a tiny synth controller playing synth sounds off his laptop. I'm looping with the looperlative, and he's using the DL4, and possibly Ableton live... There might be some Gravikord in there too, I'm not sure :)
