almost a decade old, I've recently dug up these old recordings that we did nothing with at time time, and found a couple of gems.
The back story is that Luca and I met via the Loopers Delight mailing list - I think I was heading out to near where he lives to give a bass masterclass, and we met up, hit it off and decided to play together. We recorded a load of solo stuff together, and played a couple of REALLY enjoyable shows, and then Luca set up this all-improv session with two other wonderful Italian musicians - Gianni Sabbioni on bass and Frank Moreno on drums. on this track, almost all the 'bass' bass playing is Gianni, and I'm playing a lot of 'guitar-y' stuff. I'll annotate the waveform a little so you can see what's happening where. Luca and I trade sounds back and forth and it's sometimes tricky to tell who's doing what... :)
this is partially mixed and mastered - I'm sure it'll be tweaked a little more if and when it ever comes out commercially :)

@mandala eyes: it's my favourite recorded drum sound of any project I've ever worked on! This was just a stereo pair of Octava mics that Luca owns, in an amazing sounding room... We got lucky :)

@Luca Formentini: there was, wasn't there?? This is so far out of the ordinary for both of us... I'm enjoying listening to it - it's great to still like things almost 10 years later, but even better to see how far you've come in that time. Looking forward to making more music :)

don't remember what made me go for such a massive distortion ! not an usual color for me, there was an intense energy in the room that day.

then I switch to a non-wah wah sound here, that's being looped to get that chaotic effect...
