About
Chris Miner - musician, composer, psycho-sonic-sound wave surfer, aural astronaut, free-stylin' feedbacker, wigged-out wah pedaling waltzer, artist, writer, and visionary.
As a teenager, Chris became inspired by the noise and feedback of bands like my bloody valentine and the jesus and mary chain, and the layers of swirling psychedelic textures by the Cure, and knew that creating music would be part of his life journey.
Chris began recording and performing in 1996. He released Kali in Spring, November Kali, and the Paris Sessions with independent record company Dark World in 2000 and 2001, under the band name Pisces Shadow. In 2002, Chris started a new band called solarminds (using the alias solarone). He co-wrote and produced a track with M.T. Hollis on his record America's Finest which was released on the label M.T. Minded Industries in 2004. Also in 2004, Chris composed an extended piece titled, "Samurai Sun." Excerpts from "Samurai Sun" were used on a Tai Chi instructional DVD produced by Sherie Hubble in 2005. "Samurai Sun" is the first in a serries of compositions Chris worked on from 2004-2009 called Sun sessions. Chris founded Mind Altering Records in 2005. In early 2006 Chris wrote and recorded tropical medication sessions, and in 2008 solarminds released their debut album, a lighthouse for the Sun. Most recently, Chris wrote and recorded a piece called "third eye of the needle" to be included on Vol.2 of Dreadful Passage, the experimental/noise/soundscape project from Backwards Records NW.
