Made in Taiwan and brought to Vienna, Austria the culture clash incepted an affinity for a wide range of music.
Soia’s first band Cakoon started with gigs at the Arena and the Phonetic Art Festivals at Klub Ost. After losing at The World Music Award 2005 at Vienna’s Porgy&Bess, a musical redirection
based on Billie Holiday‘s sadness and beloved fusion Jazz gave birth to a new musical approach, while abstract hip hop damaged the rest. Her sound varies from soul-funk and jazzy improvisation to Nu Soul, creating a unique style through her kick-ass and code-lacking manners. After having spent some time travelling Asia, the States and Southern Africa she was exposed to the Vienna based producer Mez.
This quality obsessed artist surprises with distinguished harmonies, organic vibrant beats and innovative sound sources. Soulful things lay ahead after their first cooperation "Obtaining". Listen for yourself. They are currently working on material for their upcoming EP which is planned to release in spring 2012 (unsigned).
