SOHIO is a five piece indie rock band that writes, records, and plays their own original music. They have a very wide array of musical styles: roots, americana, alternative, garage, grunge, punk, country, blues, prog, etc. They still remain in their very small town in southwest Ohio and gig primarily in the Tri-State area. SOHIO has 3 self-produced albums currently available on iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon, Napster, etc. Their debut LP is called "Money and Love." It was released on June 13th, 2006. All sessions were recorded on a 3M-79 two inch analog tape recorder, and many of the instruments and recording gear were from the '60s era. Their sophomore album is entitled "Impossible Hope" and is a mix between in-studio and at-home recording. It was released on December 12th, 2009. Their third album is their newest album, released in 2012 entitled "Sonuminous." All three albums were recorded at Ultrasuede Studios in Cincinnati, OH; engineered by John Curley (formerly of the Afghan Whigs) and mastered by Dave Davis (the All Night Party). SOHIO is currently writing and recording their demos for the next record. Self-producing three stellar albums is just one of their many accomplishments. SOHIO played the humungous 40th Annual Summerfest (07) in Milwaukee. Their song, "Speckled Dust," appeared on the last episode of comedian Dane Cook's "Tourgasm." Indie filmmaker Ed Radtke used their song, "An Open Field," in the climactic scene of his new movie, "The Speed of Life." And their song, "Number 2" was recently used in a Cincinnati Bell TV commercial licensed by All Night Party. Cincinnati's ever-growing Midpoint Music Festival (MPMF) has invited SOHIO for the past six years. They have also opened in the past for some bigger name acts: The Knitters (formerly known as X) and Matthew Ryan.
