About
Comic book fans will know Moomba as a giant levitating alien imprisoned on Earth, immune to ballistic weapons and capable of physically destroying a battleship. This is not to be confused, however, with Moombahton – a genre of electronic dance music currently sweeping the nation by storm… a movement pioneered in no small part by San Francisco based production & live performance duo Smash & Grab.
Comprised of Jerome Forney and Andrew Ribotto, S&G was initially launched as a minimal techno project. Now the pair have staked a claim on the Moombahton movement and forced open their own niche in this musical gold rush. By “moombahfying” popular dance floor classics while simultaneously staying true to their techno roots S&G is pushing out driving and energetic tracks that pair fresh and innovative sound design with crispy and dynamic production. Their stage show brings together a mixture of tracks, loops, and Elektron Machinedrum, offering a unique twist on this genre by adding a live improvisational element that is all their own.
