“ Nice Minimal sounds pepper this chunky slab of funky Electronica. It’s an eclectic hybrid of sounds. The rippling arpeggio is almost Kraftwerkian (as are the amusing squelches and blips) but the bass is Germanic Minimal. With a delicate push in this could be anything from Electro House, to Funky House, to true Minimal, and when the 808 State-style chords drop at 1:59 it’s suddenly packed with Retro vibes!
Love the gated, tight break at 2:26 – building up the reverb tails and sustain then chopping everything back to their hit transients is a brilliant trick we can’t hear enough of. In fact, push it further! How about building up a nice reverby swamp with your hi frequencies before slicing it back?
Too complex for Minimal but too measured and careful for Electro House it’s in its own world and given the wealth of soundalikes we wade through each month, that’s praise indeed. Nice work.”
