Ex Inspiral Carpets bassplayer Martyn Walsh and Ruthless Producer (aka SPARTAK) have recruited Berlin DJ/ producer Fidelity Kastrow to provide vocals on their Prodigy meets Erol Alkan rocking-electro anthem Bad Love.

“The song had been in SPARTAK’s vaults for a while, waiting for the right vocalist to come along to make the track come to life,” says Martyn, “Fidelity has done just that, delivering a sex soaked electro work over and teasing out the right level of subversive sexuality in the lyrics.”

Berlin legend Mark Reeder (famed for being Factory Records’ man-in-Berlin and for discovering and turning Paul Van Dyk into a star) and Micha Adam co-produced Bad Love, taking time out from working on remixers for the likes of the Pet Shop Boys, Bernard Sumner’s Bad Lieutenant and Blank & Jones.

Combining Martyn’s ferociously tough punk style guitar riffs with Fidelity’s icily cool Berlin-esque spoken- and sung- words, Bad Love has won immediate support from the handful of tastemakers who’ve heard it so far, including Idiotproof (aka Deep Groove), Gigolo star the Model, Lady B, Chris Cowie and Sweden’s Stuffa.

Idiotproof’s Grayson and Stuffa both single out Fidelity’s contribution (‘Good to know what Fidelity can do, I like it”, Grayson, and ‘I really like Fidelity's vocals on here,” Stuffa), while Lady B sums up the track more succinctly.

“‘I like Bad Love, it's somewhere between the Prodigy, Garbage and Erol Alkan,” the French electro-tech star suggest, “Cool”.

Scottish tech pioneer Chris Cowie (Bellboy/ Hook Recordings) agrees.

“She's So British!!! I like, I like, and this is a great track!” he enthuses.

Fidelity, in fact, is German and one of the fastest rising new DJs to have emerged from Berlin in recent years. Starting DJing less than three years ago, she’s already built up an impressive international circuit of repeat bookings, including Czech Republic’s legendary Roxy and Summer of Love Festival (where she’s played three times, including on the main stage this year.)

Spinning sexy, provocative cutting edge electro-techno, she’s also played London’s key underground/ fashionista clubs (Trailer Trash, Wet Yourself, Studio Neon) whilst landing a headliner residency at London’s infamous fetish institution Torture Garden. An energetic and sensual performer (both as a DJ and singer) she’s also rocked Sweden’s Secret Island Festival Bosnia’s Neofest Peace Festival (twice) and held down a main room residency at Berlin’s techno landmark Tresor.

Madchester legend Martyn remains in Manchester continuing to build on the musical legacy he started with the Inspiral Carpets in the late 80s.

“Bad Love is a tale of good love gone bad. Bad love, good times, just the way we like it.”
