SKAGGS is a producer signed with famed Jalapeno Records in London, and works with many different artists all over the world. From Sydney & Perth Australia to London England, Copenhagen Denmark, Los Angeles California and more! A range of skill experience and love for the craft. SKAGGS can take your musical project and turn it into a competitive track with mixing, production, and mastering (mastering executed by www.berniebecker.com).
The earliest memory SKAGGS has related to music is being a 3 year old listening to STYX, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Old Hall & Oats, Little River band, Doobie Brothers, and so much more – laying on the floor in front of the speaker – on the parents record player / 8-track combo “hi-fi” system in the late 70′s.
The 80′s saw SKAGGS being mesmerized by “Soul Train”, and “American Bandstand” alike! Additionally there was every amazing 80′s band coming out with all those memorable albums – such as Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, and Tears for Fears to name a few!
Then finally the 90′s came along, and it was time for SKAGGS to get the music writing, and creation bug!
The music influence was vast, and untamed by this point. SKAGGS would always tune into a little station called C89.5FM (SEATTLE) that played everything from trance, techno, acid house, deep house, ‘happy hard core”, even dronish rave music that seemed to come from nowhere, and this was 1993! While every other radio station was either playing Grunge, “Ricky Martin”, or “Tony Toni Toné”. C89.5 was introducing SKAGGS to a palette of music that would later become an inspiration.
Getting his hands on any instrument he could, SKAGGS would work shit jobs to buy up hardware synths, and midi sequencers wherever possible (frequently borrowing). It wasn’t until the year 2000 when a little company in Stockholm, Sweden released a program called “Reason“. Like an idiot, and totally part of P-Heads demographic he sold his Roland TR-707, Yamaha CX-2X, Yamaha SY-35, bought Reason_v1.0, and a pair of studio monitors. Years later – another epiphany happened with a lovely German company called Ableton in 2007. This was the moment SKAGGS realized he could “Do this for real”. Teaming up with pal DJ Joplin, all the pieces were in place for that one fateful day that she asked: — “Hey do you want to make a track together?”
The result? SKAGGS & JOPLIN’S first EP “ORPORT“!
After the release of Orport, the journey to honing SKAGGS’S style began with a remix of Joshua Heath’s ”Wanna Dance?“!
Armed with a new found love in funky house music, SKAGGS took to it with a fierce passion. The result? SKAGGS’S first Solo release on Jalapeno Records UK called “FINISH LINE“ featuring a bad ass remix from Lonely Boy!
Today SKAGGS continues his musical adventures with the likes of Tom Drummond of Perth Australia, The Basement Freaks of Athens Greece, and Jalapeno Records UK.
The future sees SKAGGS creating original pieces for singer songwriters, house acts, Electro Dance / Pop outfits and many more! His current projects with Laura Steel, Muma-Megs, and Jalapeño Records – shows promising and inspiring prospects for friendships, collaborations, and excellent music!
