About
Radio/Club DJ and Producer.
Simon has been around the Underground Music scene in Nottingham for many years. His love for Underground Electronic Music has inspired him to both DJ and Produce Electronic Music. Originally inspired by early Belgium electronic productions on labels such as R&S and the UK's Sheffield based Warp Records, both definitive and very electronic. Later inspiration came from attending Nottinghams Underground House Parties, with DJ's from DiY & Smokescreen, as well as others, defining the Deep House sound that could be heard pumping from various locations around Nottingham at any given weekend. Simon say's "Yeah, I have to be honest. It took me a while to get into the Deep House vibe coming from such a Tech based sound but, you just can't help but love it when you're in presence of such a perfect vibe."
Simon was introduced to the production side of Electronic Music around 1993, when a friend with some Midi Synth's and an Atari based Cubase sequencer set up his gear in combination with a pair of Technics 1210's. It wasn't until 1995 that Simon picked up a few bit's & pieces to begin making his own tracks. "I started with an Atari ST, Akai S2000, Novation Drumstation and a Korg 05/RW General Midi Module.", Simon explains. "Things were pricey back then and of course PC's weren't really on the radar at that point. It was the most accessable and affordable equipment I could get hold of."
With the exponential technology revolution in PC's and acknowledgment from developers to engineer both DAW's and VSTi Plugin's (Soft Synth's), it was becoming more accessable to people who had the desire to produce music in a home studio, on what would have once cost thousands of pounds in equivalent sounding Audio Hardware. Simon stayed with this aspect of Electronic Music production and set up his own digital studio. After almost 15 year's of dedication to learning the art, albeit an ever learning process, Simon has finally released his first EP, signed by Sonoptix, a small independant digital label based in Cologne, Germany.
