This extract of a programme on Radio St Helena includes coverage of the arrival of the first boat home in the first-ever Governor's Cup yacht race from Cape Town to St Helena, just before Christmas in 1996. It includes the sound of the RMS St Helena's horn as the Nina crossed the finish line, and reaction from the exhausted crew. There's also an interview aboard the RMS with Captain Dave Roberts, who conceived the idea of staging a race: he tells how the ship passed three of the competing yachts at sea. Finally, there's an extra item about how the RMS put down two anchors... and pulled up three. The third was very old.

The only copy of this recording was on an old cassette tape. To convert it for uploading, it was put into a car cassette player, and re-recorded on to a laptop.
