A mix of five of my pieces of work for BBC local radio, chosen to demonstrate a variety of techniques; some are edited from the transmitted version to give a total playing time of ten minutes. 1: Rail prices: I was asked to produce a package for the next day's breakfast programme, with no brief. 2: Potholes: with not much in the way of sound effects, I came up with a creative verbal treatment on this overnight piece when I heard the interviewee speak and saw the number of potholes. 3: Repatriations: a vox pop on plans to repatriate dead servicemen through Oxfordshire proved unsatisfactory, so I had the idea of dubbing sound effects from BBC online videos of repatriations, and used them as a bed for a piece of descriptive writing. 4: An illustrated two-way on people who'd lived with the prospect of having their homes demolished. 5: Christmas dinner: re-mixed extracts from one of two colour pieces recorded for the Radio Oxford carol service.
