The making of “Shanti Mantras” by Shivoham – An audio documentary produced by Arnaud Azzouz
From Udaipur, Rajasthan, Bhargav Mistry aka Shivoham is the composer and Sarod player behind the lyrical ambient masterpiece project of “Shivoham”.
A long time student of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Bhargav is also a self taught sound recorder and digital music programer, he composes soulful pieces on his laptop while recording the last poets and interacting with musicians along the Silk Road from Iran to Korea via India.
On his latest album, “Shanti Mantras” Shivoham explores these Hindu prayers for peace (Shanti). Generally they are recited at the beginning and end of religious discourse and ceremonies. When recited in its proper way, they are supposed to calm the mind of reciter and environment around him/her. Reciting them is also believed to be removing any obstacles for the task being started.
10 tracks – 60 minutes – Digipack 36 pages with detailed informations about the Mantras produced by Silk Road Communications

@Jon Tracy: It was recorded in a very humble studio in Udaipur, but with a good mic. A good mastering is also what makes the difference.
