About

Sick YG, the nephew of San Francisco pioneers DJ Big Bob and DJ Toney Tone, was born and raised in the infamous Fillmore District via Turkwood home of the foundation entitled: The Boogie Basement. YG was heavily influenced by the Hip Hop scene in its infancy. At a young age, Sick YG was counseled and mentored by world renown artist, Lenny Williams. Mr Williams set him on the right path for the better. As an Emcee from the Bay Area, YG has been noted as one of the best kept secrets by Bay Area hard hitters such as: Andre Nickatina, Cellski, Rappin 4Tay, Equipto, DenGee, and array of many more. In addition, YG has worked with lyrical talents like: Chunk, Equipto, San Quinn, Big Rich, Gigalo Gee, Hugh E.M.C., Bored Stiff, Akil, S-Five, Mint Rock, and many more. Also, YG has shared the stage with artists such as: Ice T, Rodney O & D.J. Joe Cooley, Marvelous and D.J. Cash Money, Too $hort, M.C. Ant, Andre Nickatina, Hugh E.M.C., Rappin’4Tay, San Quinn, Equipto, Mike Marshall, and a host of others. YG has earned a reputation for being one of San Francisco’s Mixtape Legends with material reaching the public of Japan, Russia, Switzerland, and all over the United States. Although YG's mixtapes contained some mature language, his recording entitled "Delicate" was actually the last time he ever used profane lyrics in any of his tracks which broadens his listening audience to everyone. To thicken his position, YG was the last artist ever to record in the legendary Data Stream Studios at Hyde Street Studios where legends such as Paris and Spice 1 have recorded and produced gold hits. As if his resume wasn't impressive already, Sick YG has recorded three songs for the video game by PLATINUM GAMES and SEGA for the NINTENDO Wii console entitled: MADWORLD, one of the first mature titles on the Wii.
Sick YG has been scouted upon by many labels for some time now. He states, " I felt like I had a lot to offer the industry but didn't feel like the time was right to sign to any labels. I made a personal vow to hit the industry hard when I was ready. And now I'm ready!" With the potential to be amongst the greats, Tokyo's number 1 radio station took notice and contacted Sick YG. Not only until YG showed and proved his ability to be ranked amongst the elite did Joint One Radio setup a meeting to actually sign Sick YG. To add to his already impressive resume, YG was one of the first Bay Area artists to be submitted into heavy rotation on the radio in Japan which definitely solidifies his legendary status.Currently, Sick YG is signed to Shima Sounds/Joint One LLC. which holds its headquarter office in Japan with sublet offices in South Pasadena, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
