ShyBoy's world is rich with melancholy happiness. And the roadmap to his soul is his music. His expressive vocals are ensconced in an outer universe that floats, ebbs and soars - sometimes all at once. Juxtaposed are pairings of the organic and synthesized - heartbeats and machines.
Huffington Post writer Xaque Gruber describes ShyBoy's music as "stunning" and a "quietly building, gently swinging, electro-dreampop soundscape." The Monterey County Weekly's Adam Joseph writes that ShyBoy's debut single "Bird in Flight" is "a cross-pollination of RJD2, DJ Shadow and 2001: A Space Odyssey – ShyBoy’s understated vocals quickly erupt into full-blown soulful crooning that’s irresistible for eardrums.”
With the enchanting ability to capture the listener's imagination, ShyBoy has written songs that have been featured in numerous films, television shows and other media, including Warehouse 13 (SyFY), Scream 4 (Dimension), America's Next Top Model (CW) and the end title for the soundtrack to the multiplatinum game, The Devil May Cry 4 (Capcom/Sony).
"Wouldn't It Be Good", ShyBoy's new single - released internationally by Swedish-based digital singles label 100 Songs - is a cover of the 1984 hit by Nik Kershaw. The song "reflects on the comparisons people make with others when they are facing a myriad of problems of their own," says ShyBoy. "When I was recording the vocals, I felt a real connection to the words. I imagined that I was two different people singing the song to one another, each one trying to get the other to see that the grass in other people's lives is no greener than your own."
Alongside work on his solo debut album, ShyBoy has been collaborating on various projects, including work with DJ/producer Eddie Amador on the song "Headspin" (released by Citrusonic Stereophonic).
In addition to his work as a singer-songwriter, ShyBoy is a mashup artist and DJ with a residency at A plus D's popular Bootie LA mashup club (at The Echoplex in Los Angeles). He spins sets, performs internationally and has created many popular mixes, including the concept mash album MaDonna Summer and three singles with RuPaul for the 5th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race (Logo/World of Wonder).
