Only You by Lindsay Phillips

1 track, 3.44 showoffservices on November 28, 2011 00:53

Lindsay Phillips is not like other artists.

He stands resolute and alone, armed only with a guitar and his voice. He exists in stark contrast to the hip, fashionable and hot young acts that litter the landscape of popular music. He is, in some ways, a man out of time; a lone messenger who, through his singular voice and song writing style, arrives bearing dark tales of hope, love, loss and redemption.

Despite the melodrama that might attend such a description, his music is the opposite. It is delivered in an unhurried, confessional style. It stands apart, but never alienates. And while it is concerned with the here and now, it still manages to sound timeless.

‘Only You (And The Lord)’ is the second single to be taken from Phillips’ upcoming 2012 release Taedium Vitae. In contrast to the orchestration and horns of first single ‘Exile’, ‘Only You (And The Lord)’ is a starker, yet no less inviting proposition. Stunningly produced by Myles Mumford to highlight the richness of Phillips’ voice and his dexterity with melody, the track errs away from the prosaic; relying rather on Phillips’ considered lyrical delivery and oaken tone to compel the listener.
