About

from improvisation to freedom in structures - shannon nyquist is a dresden and leipzig based ambient-postrock band consisting of denis nareike (git,dr,bg,synth), rené tekker jugoldt (synths) and antje meichsner (synth).

we are experimenting with our instruments and with techniques from other improvisational genres like singing, performance and experimental radio shows including the post-production and our communication about the creative process. occasionally we question our habitual play. we are inspiring ourselves by slide shows or special scents and perfumes.

we are researching methods to make our music repeatable on stage. that means we are experimenting in an area of conflict: we'd like to achieve as much freedom as possible on one hand and sufficient footing by scores on the other hand to express the moment concentrated and intuitively.

band history:
in summer 2007 the anti-rockist-section of the former psychedelic-postrock band face-about-face met in the rehearsel room again: denis nareike (git), dorit horn (bg), rené jugold (synth, git). antje meichsner (synth) joined them. denis advanced himself in playing the drums and bought an old korg ms10. they found a new and more inward way to make music: getting away from song structures by improvising and experimenting. their playing turned to ambient and postrock. in the following autumn and winter many breakouts of creativitiy happened. many hours of intense and inspiring material were recorded. in the additional soundcloud player there are some favorites from that period.
spring 2008 was a difficult time for them. in summer dorit quit the band. denis and antje are playing the bass now.
