Actress Tippi Hedren's Roar Foundation cares for more than 70 lions, tigers, leopards and other wild cats who were being kept as "pets" or "guard animals" in private homes across the U.S. Following the mass killings of 50 wild animals who were let loose by their owner in suburban Ohio last year, Hedren is backing the "Big Cats and Public Safety Protection Act" of 2012 (Reps. Buck McKeon/Loretta Sanchez). The law would ban the breeding and private possession of big cats except by qualified, accredited zoos, where they can be properly cared for and housed.
Hedren talks to Animals Aloud about the realities and dangers of keeping wild cats.
