FOR BOOKINGS CONTACT PETE ADAMS @ email@example.com -bio by Josh "Intent(z)" Smith -The seeds of greatness were sewn in the birth of James Peter Adams on November 22, 1987. The son of a folk musician Mother, and Blues/ Bluegrass musician Father, he was drawn to a variety of music from an early age. Soaking in the sounds all around him, a strong urge to create soon compelled him and he started playing guitar and singing at 16. A few years before he earned the nickname "Sewer Rat," on the school bus, and adopted that as his stage name for performing. Crafting a unique sound all his own, with friends, family, and at parties, he always grabbed the attention of anyone within listening distance and was obvious he was destined for more.
At 21, he turned his talents to rapping, and before long had developed a memorable, gritty, flow, tone and writing style that's sure to set him apart from the majority of the saturated hip hop world. Teaming up with award-winning sound production engineer, Andy Bowmer, and learning the ropes of production along the way, and beat production from shadowville.com, Sewer released his debut EP, Sewa From Tha Stix in December, 2010, earning him a cult like following of loyal local supporters. Turning his skills to production, he released a digital mixtape, Blue n Yellow, in March, 2011.
Later that year, after forming REELeast PROductions as a platform to release his and other local talent's music, he produced Corey Peterson's debut rock EP, The Easy Street Project Vol. 1: In The Bag in August, 2011. At the same time, with contributions from Corey Peterson, producer Lazy J Roller, among others, he released The REELeast Project #1. A month later, Sewer Cleaned Up, a 5 song EP produced by Andy Bowmer was released.
Writing and collaborating with talented musicians such as Harry Roberts, Caleb Myles and The Hupman Brothers, just to name a few, Sewer performed at the Annual Warchild Benefit concert in Wolfville, in 2010 and 2011. In January, 2012, combining efforts with legendary Valley freestyle emcee, Diggy Dra, the much anticipated Diggy & Sewa In Tha Basement Mitape was released. Vocals mixed by Sewa, with beat production from DJ SIIN, Mista Miyagi, TheEighty9s, la Sha, VisionaryBeats, and features from Ambiguous and Kastic.
Also lately, Sewa can be found expanding his abilities yet again, to the Battle Rap scene, honing a killer a cappella battle game in the style of KOTD and GrindTime. In December, 2011, with longtime fan and friend, and fellow Valley emcee/musician Josh "InTent(Z)" Smith, Sewa formed the VRL (Valley Rap League),
as a platform to host battle/ performance venues around the Valley. The second official VRL event will be held in February, and is expected to grow as much as it did from event #0 to #1 if not more. Continued events are planned, and exponential expansion is the aim. #1 was a two battle event, pitting InTent(Z) vs Monk and Sewa vs Fat Parker, Sewa showing yet another outlet he can channel his gifts. Performances are planned for the end of future VRL events.
Watch out for Sewa in battles, and online, and promoting the latest mixtape, performing with Diggy around the Valley, and with a newly made distribution deal, so much more to come! 2012 is sure to full of shine for this up and comer!
