@sense: I dunno if they intend to mean to turn it into something less powerful, it's just a way for them to compare different musics and know what it might sound like before listening. I think it meant a lot more in the days of records when every new artist was an investment of sorts

@the Invisible Movement: yeah , personally i see genre's as descriptors that people who do NOT make music , made up to try and describe what music is . I think those who make music , and resonate deeply with it realise that this is nothing more than an attempt to homogenise music into something far less powerful than it really is. Ultimate human communication.

@sense: Neither have I, now we've both found another. I still acknowledge genres so I have some idea where I'm taking the song but I see them as more of influences than anything
