Have you ever had that feeling when you put a record on, you get the crazy and unstoppable feeling that other people need to hear this? When that urge became too much to handle and there was no way to vent this, Robin Prak decided to DJ. In 2009 he had his first performance in local pop venue Simplon alongsidea a close friend and mutual drum ‘n bass-head.
After that ‘Druktemakers’ were on a roll and at least had a gig a week the rest of that year. The definite apex until so far was the first time they played in Amsterdam during late 2011. The crowd was going wild to our tunes paced at 140 BPM and later on, their familiar hard but cheerful drum ‘n bass. All night there was a line in front of the door. Through the years Druktemakers stood alongside numerous big electro, dubstep and drum ‘n bass acts.
Since 2011 the small but very cozy club Subsonic was introduced to the two bass heads. The gigs Druktmakers and Selektah (as a solo act) did in Subsonic in total must have passed the hundred by now. Robin also organizes Let It Beat in legendary pop club VERA where the biggest edition until now was with maestro De Sluwe Vos.
Before organizing this electronic night he already was playing there about once a month playing very eclectic, when the audience could also do requests. It was during this period he gained his big chunk of experience on performance on stage and before a crowd. Since late 2012 the focus has been four-to-the-floor, and the feeling that crate digging is a life time job already has been joined by the passion to create. Also the great impact his father had on him when he was listening to a rented Turn Up The Bass becomes more and more vivid.
