Mezzo soprano Sarah Larsen has been a Young Artist with Seattle Opera since 2011. She made her mainstage debut as Mercédès in “Carmen,” returned as Suzuki in “Madama Butterfly” and Tisbe in “La Cenerentola,” and is presently singing the role of the First Tourière in “Suor Angelica.” Larsen returns next season as Maddalena in “Rigoletto” and the Secretary in “The Consul.”

The First Tourière is one of the few nuns allowed outside the convent walls. So she returns with news of a magnificent carriage that has brought a visitor to the convent. Sister Angelica (sung in this excerpt by Maria Gavrilova) is curious about the carriage, but the Tourière cannot answer her detailed questions.
