In honor of Benjamin Britten, England’s greatest opera composer (born November 22, 1913), listen to this passage from Act One of “Billy Budd,” Britten’s great sea saga. Seattle Opera has performed four of Britten’s masterpieces: “Peter Grimes,” “Billy Budd,” “Turn of the Screw” (both on the mainstage and with our Young Artists Program), and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (Young Artists Program); we also presented Britten’s “Noye’s Fludde,” with over 350 grade-schoolers, at the old Seattle Opera House. Check out our production history at seattleopera50.com.

Robert Spano conducts the orchestra and chorus of Seattle Opera.
