The Scratch Bandits Crew is a new approach to scratching; Supa-Jay, Geoffresh and Syr are three hip-hop pirates who love to sail strange seas. No samples from dusty old vinyls; these three scratch explorers really do write their own tracks. They play or get played the sounds they want to use, and from that they dive into the construction of their original compositions. They also play with voices, soul, hip-hop or funk, making surrealist collages outlining tall tales.

The Scratch Bandits marry analogue and digital, acoustic and electronic in their own unique musical signature. And at the other end of the anchor chain, they also develop their own personal scratch tools: extraordinary inventions like the scratch guitar and the darbuka-lamp, or even the lunar scratch, a prototype "scratch controlled instrument" which is the only one of its kind in the world. Then there are new electronic stringed instruments which transform shows into hybrid, mutant events.

The album 31 Novembre – an imaginary date for this disc full of daydreams and diversions – is the image of this trio. A rich powerful collection of tracks stuffed with hip hop references, and nourished by electronic music, jazz and soul. It's gripping and there's no down time, just like watching the Scratch Bandits Crew live on stage. Their new album, 31 Novembre, is out on 9th April 2012.

Scratch Bandits Crew, c’est une autre approche de la scratch music incarnée par Supa-Jay, Geoffresh et Syr, trois pirates du hip-hop qui adorent naviguer sur d’autres mers.

Pas de samples chipés dans de vieux vinyles : les trois corsaires du scratch réalisent un véritable travail d’écriture de leurs morceaux. Ils jouent ou font jouer les sons qu’ils souhaitent utiliser, et à partir de cette matière, lancent la construction de leurs compositions originales.
Ils jouent aussi avec les voix, qu’elles soient soul, hip-hop ou funk, les disposent dans des collages surréalistes pour raconter des histoires à trous.
Les Scratch Bandits marient analogique et numérique, acoustique et électronique dans une signature musicale unique.

Ils développent aussi, à l’autre bout de la chaîne, leurs outils de scratch personnels : dispositifs inédits, comme la guitare-scratch et la derbouka-lampe, ou encore le scratch lunaire, un prototype de « scratch controlled instrument » unique au monde. Des nouvelles lutheries électroniques qui transforment les shows en événements hybrides et mutants.

L’album 31 Novembre – date imaginaire pour disque onirique et prospectif – est à l’image du trio. Un disque riche et puissant, bourré de références hip hop, également nourri aux musiques électroniques, au jazz ou à la soul.
