For those who want to read more about my musical background....
I was told by my great aunt, that my musical journey began on mandolin, strumming along to a Nana Mouskouri record at the age of three on her couch. At the age of six, I attempted to write my first violin concerto, while studying with the late violinist, Florence Linden. Florence was an amazing player and gifted soloist who shared the stage with the brilliant violinists, Jascha Heifetz and Itzhak Perlman during her tenor as principal violinist with the, Northwest Indiana Symphony.
While I was studying with Florence, I heard Jimi Hendrix play the Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock and that pretty much sealed the deal of swapping the violin for guitar. The guitar became my obsession and passion, allowing me to express myself creatively through an instrument that had limitless boundaries.
I have been lucky in my musical travels, having jammed with many great players like, Carlos Santana and Buddy Miles. The album that I am finishing up, "Heads or Tales" also has an incredible lineup of Bay Area Musicians that came together to help me create an amazing record.
We recorded it live over three days on to two-inch tape to capture the raw performance of rock n roll. The old school way of recording is where it's at for tone, heart and soul. It ain't perfect, but it's a damn cool sound that we are proud of and we look forward to sharing it with you when its done.
This record is special to me and so are the songs, for it features a unique, one of a kind guitar tuning that came to me in a dream. It is unlike anything else you have heard and it celebrates the mystery's of life and the power of music. I invite you to read the story behind this incredible sound and mystical experience on my blog: http://www.scotsier.wordpress.com
