Brooklyn's Friendly Ghost divines this mystical, but playful, and unabashedly dance-happy rendition of the DOLDRUMS original. The lead track off DOLDRUMS' eponymous "Egypt" EP gets transformed from a murky, deserted and swirling aquatic bubbler, into the ecstatic version we hear here, laden with hooks and rounded edges. Not much can be told about Friendly Ghost, a duo from dueling musical backgrounds who have previously redone Ra Ra Riot and Maps & Atlases. DOLDRUMS' & Friendly Ghost here compete with very different takes in an electronic sphere, to uplifting effect. Look out for this cut, cut into a physical medium in the near future.
