A scenario: In his final moments, an old man lying in a park watches his great-granddaughter dance hopscotch, and envisions her life over the next 2-3 generations.

incredible concept, also the minimal beginning and as it builds up as a huge wall of textures is really outstanding !

@Vaasa Cyane: More of an intertwining of the two; guitar plays rhythm at the beginning with harp doing melody, then they switch at the end when the orch fades out.

@SchizoBrainiac: No wonder they machine-gun. I prefer multi-layer samples but... $.

@Howl Din: Now there's an interesting comparison. Love that album, like I do the majority of their work. This actually grew out of the tail end of my Nancarrow phase, trying to emulate tempo changes without actually changing tempo like on Prince of Texarkana, and I even borrowed a theme from that for this. Hence the "skipping" hopscotch effect. Then it just sort of grew up suddenly, as kids do. Thanks as always for great comments Hal!

There is an XTC song that has this sort of atmosphere, up to where your sputtering guitar enters - "River of Orchids", is that it? Something from Apple Venus. I mention it because that song always seemed inimitable, but this is coming from a similar grand and skipping place. Very beautiful, not a note out of place.

@Savaran: ....just like a game of harpscotch. Thanks for that well-worded observation!

Great mix of harp and guitar intro - the whole piece skips along nicely
