- The DJ List SAXONGROOVE profile
Jason Guest and Rich Kerry are saxongroove.
both grew up in the 70's/80's which makes them by todays producers standards....old!
Jason started his music life growing up in the 70's and 80's having influences from his mother blasting Tina Turner out amongst others. In the late 80's early 90's his music tastes grew to include The Pixies, Spacemen3, The Ozric Tentacles, New Order, to early dance acts such as Technotronic, MAARS and the KLF. He truly embraced dance music after listening to an illegal acid warehouse party recording from Essex. After this he started going to rave events hosted by the likes of Fantazia etc. His early DJ influences being The RatPack, DJ SY, SL2, Ratty, Tango and others. A few years later after the transition from rave to house Jasons taste changed with the times and took influence from the likes of DIY, Sasha, Oakenfold, BT, Derrick Carter, Leftfield, Kevin Saunderson, William Orbit, Danny Tenaglia, but has always held Carl Cox at the top of his list of DJ's for his love of beats, basslines and creativity...........
Rich was a huge fan of 80's music whilst in his teens (and still is!!), particularly the elecronic sound produced by bands such as pet shop boys, erasure, new order, omd etc..... He was a natural drummer and used to jam with a couple of bands. Into the 90's, and Rich got his first music set-up, an Atari ST with Notator, and a Roland JD-800 synthesizer - all paid for with a student loan of course! In the late 90's he formed a band with his cousin Rob, and a fabulous female vocalist, Helen. They never made it past doing local gigs and some studio work. During the late 90's and early 00's, Rich didn't produce any music, but did get into the dance music scene and did some DJing. Once again, his fondness of melodic, elecronic beats was apparent - and once again he became inspired to create and produce. Still very much into the warm electronic style, Rich takes inspiration from Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Sasha, Leftfield and Zero 7.
Life commitments put saxongroove on hold for 10 years but they're now back and producing again. They currently have a few tracks signed with 7FGR RECORDS with an EP out in Jan 2013!
