I started playing guitar at 16. I gigged from 17 to about 25. At 25 I found a Tascam 4 track cassette tape recorder. The kind you put a sticker on the cassette window so all tracks would run in the same direction. I bought a drum drop cassette and wrote a few songs around drum drops. That kinda sucked so I bought a Roland Drum machine, 808 I think.
My next step was the Roland digital series, 880, 1880, and 2480...great machines. But after about ten years I realized a computer was going to make recording easier. All I had to do was understand computers a bit. Now I use a Mac and a PC. Other than the computers and sound cards everything is in the box. The software available is incredible. So as a hobbyist I can write and record all day with no limits but my imagination. Imagine that?
I have made great strides in my recording chops. Stuff I recorded in 2000 compared to today sounds like a whole different player and engineer. During all of this song writing and need to put all parts down myself I believe I have become a better musician as well. Fortunately there is nothing but room to grow.
Thanks for stopping by.
