Stats for this track
Today, I had the revelation that I have never tried wavetable synthesis. Why have I never tried making my own waveforms? Well, I finally sat down and took the time to give it a try.
Basic wavetable synthesis is pretty easy. The source of the wave is the fun part. I've had a million things I wanted to try. At the top of that list was Raw Data. If you have Audacity, you can import any file (.doc, .pdf, .wav, .mp3, etc). It will convert the 1s and 0s to audio. Now, 99.9% of the time, this results in useless noise, but you can dig and find cool, quirky sounds.
I found one that sounded really cool, but harsh. I basically processed it so it was smoother, and then programmed the instrument. It is a really fun and interesting way to create instruments and tones.
This is not really a track as much as a contextual example.
