Hi I'm Sam - I'm a Singer.

I'm currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, in London, and have performance experience across a range of different genres, and love all styles! I run my own Jazz Project, and have numerous recordings that I have been privileged enough to create with some amazing musicians, and certainly aim to produce many more.

My time is currently spent working on my songwriting in a hope to discover something that I have not quite put my finger on yet (It is a journey after all!). Now approaching a point, where I will start to record them and be playing them out with a band of my best friends and favourite musicians. (so keep an eye out, for a new side to my music that you may not have seen yet)

Here's My Bio:

Sam Merrick is a versatile young singer based in London who has already accomplished a great deal - with the promise of much more to come in the future.

He lists Jazz, Blues, Soul, Gospel and Rock amongst his many influences but his ambitions are simple. He wants to sing, make music and collaborate with others towards the same goal.

Sam is working towards completion of his BMus Degree at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London under the direction of respected vocal coach Linda Hutchison. He has also studied jazz voice with Lee Gibson, and received support and advice from other great names and mentors on the international music scene.

His performance and studio work to date is already extensive and diverse, from performances at the Swanage Jazz Festivals to the Royal Albert Hall. He has recorded music for American television and films such as NBC’s “The Sing Off - Season 3” (incidental music). He’s also worked under Oscar-winning directors including iconic British director, the late Ken Russell.

Not content with that, Sam is also a member of the Guildhall Jazz Singers/Choir and Big Band and the leader of a noted jazz quartet. More recently, he has been working closely with new a cappella sextet VIVE, as a secondary member and sound production advisor. Vive was founded by Arranger/Composer James Rose with whom Sam works very closely.

The Sam Merrick Jazz Quartet recorded their debut EP, ‘Live Sessions at Ealing Studios’ in August 2010 and made available as a CD/download early in 2011. It’s currently available via many reputable digital Music Stores and streaming services, including iTunes, Spotify & We7.

Sam is originally from the small but perfectly formed county of Dorset on England’s south coast, where the beaches are clean, the people are friendly and the summers are lazy and long.
