About
For New Zealand raised Samari, electronic music has been his liberator. Dwelling within the pulse melting genres of tech-house, techno and minimal, this strongly directive character not only has taken his hometown by storm but those outside of the islands too.
Establishing himself initially as a radio host and DJ gear designer, where he has successfully taken out awards for audio visual designer projects, Samari harvested a distinct goal point for movement in the industry. In 2008 he left New Zealand to pursue a broadened music career with the love and inspiration of the tech scene deeply instilled within him. Before this move however, he involved himself immensely within the industry on various levels showcasing not only his creative musical talents but design talents also.
Many will suggest that there are brains behind the design and formation of a well nurtured track, however for Samari he has also used his skills on contribution of the designs within the Serato Music Group making him a well rounded figure in the electronic music industry.
From musical software design to musical production, it’s a one way and very fast journey forward for this artist, producing for over two years over the various techno and tech house genres.
Samari successfully exported his musical resume from New Zealand carrying a wealth of talent including that of a 2010 blitz on Pitch Black’s ‘Harmonia’ with the Samari Detroit to Chicago remix out on Dub Transmissions Recordings. Forthcoming remixes set to hit niche districts include that of Backroom Reality’s ‘No Mistakes’, while Samari’s EP Chaos Reigns is a sure fire hit for those underground chasers. Following the Chaos Reigns EP launch, this pioneer for live visual and music performances, is a on track to securing his own premier live project exposing an array of production and live techniques that are bound to get the hearts pumping for many if not all.
With current residencies with Smalltown, Lucky Coq and E55, and regular appearances at Brown Alley, Afterdark Social Club, My Aeon and Bimbo's among others. Samari spreads the driving love of tech and its complimentary genres throughout Melbourne after coming from a very strong events and promotions based background in New Zealand. There he ran one of Wellington’s strongest running club nights Electroluxxe for over three years. Migrating his expertise to Australia, Samari continued pumping out success with established night- Gradient. Cementing Samari into the techno scene in Melbourne Gradient hosted the best underground techno sounds at Miss Libertine, together with the exclusive Bunker Series parties.
On the road, on the decks, Samari has quality notches on his tour belt. New Zealand saw Samari nail two impressive consecutive bookings with the Gun Metal Tour with Kill Me DJ and Jem The Misfit, taking clubbers through a full audiovisual journey, a talent he has perfected exceptionally. These tours have provided such a secure ground for the artist, allowing him to share an edgy, unique DJ experience.
From one journey to the next, as a strong mentor, Samari continues to utilize his knowledge and expertise for music and production, to ensure the eager raw artists of this generation onwards, grasp their own potential and the future of the industry. As a DJ instructor at the popular Your Shot DJ Competition for Stereo Sonic and Ministry of Sound and DJs United, he trains his students on the importance of being unique while on the journey through music, to carve that perfect sound; something he has potently mastered and continues to ripen. Berlin may call and so too Detroit. Samari will answer.
