Saalschutz is a Zurich based Live-Electro-Duo who wrote numerous hymns and hits for people who, like Melvilles Bartleby, "prefer not to" - except to party, maybe. They are by many considered pioneers of what is referred to as "Electropunk" or "Ravepunk" as well as warrantors of a continuous development of the genre, notorius for simple and catchy melodies and witty lyrics written in German/Swiss-German, French and English.

Saalschutz started to play mostly in squats and off locations in 2001 and released their first full length album in 2004, followed by two more in 2006 and 2010, all critically acclaimed and mostly sold out. They also remixed other artists. In between releases Saalschutz toured extensively through Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Holland, Czech Republic and Serbia. They played several hundred shows in front of up to 5000 people.

Saalschutz are an ever surprising, resourceful and also demanding live act that emphasizes the LIVE-aspect of playing electronic music: being one of the few bands in their genre to use hardware like samplers, synthesizers and effect units. No matter how heavy the stuff to carry, it's just more fun to them - it's all about blood, sweat and vintage gear.
