I'm a former music columnist, biographer and music reviewer for a handful of Northwest Ohio publications, as well as for the All Music Guide.
I've played in various bands over the years. When I started in my teens, I had a group called Obelisk with two of my cousins. The name was inspired by the object on the front of Led Zeppelin's album 'Presence.' I also played guitar, sang vocals and wrote for an original band called Fuzgunn, played lead guitar for three tribute bands (Achilles Last Band and Hammer of the Frauds covering Led Zeppelin and Death to the Pixies covering the music of, you guessed it, the Pixies), bass in a group called The Tri-Lateral Commission and drums for TheScottTrio, as well as for two practices with Prayers for Rain. All of these groups were in Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio.
My latest project is called Constitution of Lum. The name stems from an interview that I had done with The Who's bassist John Entwistle years ago. When I asked him how he had received the nickname "The Ox", he simply replied, "Because I have the constitution of lum (note: "lum" is Scottish for chimney). You can hit me over the head with a bottle, and I'll just ask 'What did you do that for?'".
