Rumpistol is the solo project of Jens Berents Christiansen.
"Rum" is the Danish word for space or room.
Rumpistol has released 3 albums and 2 EPs:
"Rumpistol" (Rump Recordings) - 2003.
"Cph Jazz EP" (Auditory Designs) - 2004.
"Mere Rum" (Rump Recordings) - 2005.
"Dynamo" (Rump Recordings) - 2008.
"Talk To You EP" (Rump Recordings) - 2011.
Rumpistol has performed live at festivals and venues all over Europe as well as in Mexico, China and Russia.
In 2010 he was nominated for the Qwartz Electronic Music Award in the Discovery category for his album "Dynamo".
“His work breathes fresh and open air with admirable confidence, knowing when to pause and when to press on. The balance between fleeting melody and hinted ambience is carefully maintained.. Guaranteed to take you from the latest of nights to the earliest of mornings with the least amount of fuss.”- Ken Hollings/The Wire (UK)
"Dynamo marks a triumphant return to the field, filled with warm electro-acoustic timbres and patchwork beat." - Boomkat (UK)
"With 'Dynamo', Rumpistol has made a flowing and totally inviting album that will captivate all but the most heartless of listeners. Its glistening melodics, brooding atmospherics, oozing basslines and complex micro-orchestral arrangements gel with such harmonic intent that the power of the end result is nothing short of enchanting. Highly recommended to all who require a shining beacon to get them through the dark depression of Winter." - Experimusic (UK)
"A collection of elegantly constructed pieces that constantly slip between the fingers, refusing to stay still, writhing and wriggling around each other. Beautiful harmonic structures topple over spiralling rhythms, leaving you spell-bound." - Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner (UK)
"In drei Worten: Welch schöne Musik!" - Blumberg/DE:BUG (DE)
- Simon Lund/Politiken (DK)
"Rumpistol’s previous work has been easily definable: based in funk, but edgy enough to be IDM. Dynamo is a risky and impressive evolution for the Dane, delving into darker, loop-based grooves and teetering close to *gasp* dubstep, while maintaining his trademark warm, curious melodies." - Mondo Magazine (CAN)
"Like all the best music, it rewards dozens or even hundreds of listens." - Kid Kameleon (US)
"What makes Rumpistol different from me is how immediate the music it." - The Needle Drop (US)
"The sprinkling of vocal samples and sporadic bursts of ghostly lyrical splashes is conveyed smoothly within each piece and a subdued Jamie Lidell versus Burial dynamic emerges from the loosened undergrowth of beats, bass and debris."
- Igloo Magazine (US)
- Soundvenue (DK)
"However you wish to describe it, the EP's tracks are rich indeed, with each distinguished by the producer's well-developed and meticulous ear for detail. Without betraying his allegiance to abstract electronica, Christiansen's turned his attention to soul and dubstep in equal measure for the EP, with wonky rhythms and vocal elements (samples, and some sung by Christiansen himself) working together to produce ear-catching results. (.. ) It all adds up to a solid and utterly well-crafted EP whose contents are anything but throwaway." - Textura (CAN)
"The sensitivity crawls out of all pores. A must for all…" - Lowriders Collective (NL)
