About
Euphoric, roaming, arcane low-fi grooves. These are just some of the words used to describe the sounds of Sydney three piece, RÜFÜS.
Since the release of their debut self-title EP in 2011, this indie-dance trio has been flooding airways and dance floors with waves of subliminal and unrelentingly infectious tunes. Their combination of live instruments, electronic production and skilled pop sensibilities has hit a note with discerning lovers of electronic music who are listening closely for RÜFÜS’s next move.
In a testament not only to the music, but also to the band’s DIY aesthetic, the EP enjoyed an organic growth and enviable attention from key tastemakers in the blogosphere. Two tracks from the EP, 'Paris Collides' & 'We Left', reached No.8 & No.13 on the Hype Machine charts simultaneously and garnered radio play throughout Europe and North America, while the video for ‘We Left’ has clocked up 100,000+ views on YouTube and Vimeo.
Locally the band’s live show has been gathering a loyal cult following, with growing intrigue from punters in their home town of Sydney resulting in more than a few sold out shows. On the airwaves, RÜFÜS has received a healthy amount of attention with the tracks, ‘Paris Collides’, ‘We Left’ and the band’s remix of the Elizabeth Rose track ‘Stars Ago’ all receiving national airplay on triple j and community radio.
In July 2011, the band released a remix EP through French Label On The Fruit. Featuring remixes by Beaumont, SymbolOne and Ride the Universe, the EP again gained notable attention for RÜFÜS in online spheres.
Over the summer, RÜFÜS played a string of festivals and parties including Homebake, Peats Ridge, Field Day, Harbour Party, Big Day Out and New Beginnings, as well as being selected to support Royksopp and going on the road with The Aston Shuffle for the 'We Won't Get Lost' tour.
In 2012, RÜFÜS is poised for even bigger things. With a new EP and tour on the way, the band has released a taster of their new material in the form of the track ‘This Summer’. Keep your ears pealed for the new sounds of RÜFÜS, at radio now.

"RUFUS seems poised to join Midnight Juggernauts, The Presets and Cut Copy on the list of groups who managed to translate popularity Down Under into worldwide recognition… mark my words, this is a band you should be keeping your eye on this year. I know I will be."
