I feel very lucky really; having graced the dancefloors on and off for the best part of 30 years, soaking in acid, techno, rave, house and everything in between. Its given me a decent ear for a rhythm and a tune and a plethora of great memories. The “DJ” thing is relatively new though when I finally bought some turntables about 4 years ago and started collecting vinyl in ernest once again.
To all those who look back to the halcyon days of clubbing and music, i’d say that now is as good as any time I’ve experienced before. There’s almost too much good music to explore, in London some great vinyl stores (and Juno of course) and then we have passionate and knowledgeable promotors keeping a vibrant underground scene alive and kicking.
So huge thanks to Hamza for sharing this mix. I’ve selected some tracks to reflect where my head and ears are these days.....that hazy space between house and techno, pretty slow, deep and melodic. Most of the music here is fairly recent as a nod to all the producers and label heads feeding our filthy habits. More please!!!
A shout out about SUNK too which I run with Chris Chippindale and Truly-Madly; we’re looking forward to some special parties for the rest of 2014. Big news soon.
