Rubi Dan is one of the most versatile MCs in the UK. Rubi's main loves are dancehall and hip hop but he can ride any riddim whether garage, jungle, grime, bassline, reggae, funky house or even salsa.
Born and raised in south London, Rubi first chatted on the mic with Young Lover and Ashanti Diamonds as a youth, before getting heavily involved in London's garage and drum'n'bass scenes in the 90s.
His first vinyl release, a version of Sisqo's Thong Song called Silicone Breast, dropped in 2000 and was heavily supported by Choice FM.
Over the years Rubi has worked with countless top flight producers such as Ray Keith, Scott Garcia, T2, Baobinga, The Heatwave, Sub Zero, Grievous Angel, Warrior One and Murderbot. Rubi Dan vocals have been released on all manner of influential labels including from Soul Jazz, Punchline, Mixpak and Rockers Revolt.
Rubi is also an incredibly experienced and accomplished live performer. Since 2005 he's been part of the UK's number one bashment sound, The Heatwave. An expert in hyping up any crowd, Rubi has performed with The Heatwave at festivals, carnivals and clubs all over the world.
But he's just as comfortable in a live set up, working with bands like Sidestepper, Maroon Town and Private Collection in recent years.
