Cat No: RETRO008
Vinyl Release: October 2012
Distributed by Kudos Records
Digital Release exclusive to Juno: November 2012
After bringing together the extended family for Retrospective’s first showcase compilation, label co-founders and curators Ruben & Ra follow up with a 4-tracker from the revered Glaswegian disco duo, Slow It Down and the London-based house veteran Elijah Collins .
‘Alright’, inspired by NV’s classic from ‘83, marks a collaboration between Slow It Down & Elijah Collins. Following on from the trio’s reworking, there’s a Ruben & Ra remix that layers NV’s vocal sample over original analogue riffs and a weightier bassline.
Having recently featured on the Yam Who?’s Midnight Riot Vol.2 compilation, ‘I Don’t Need’ pumps Cherelle’s ‘Affair’ forward by 3 decades, before the Janet Jackson-sampling ‘Tramadol Boogie’ completes the flipside in fine style.
Firstly, a big thanks to Yam Who? for sanctioning the inclusion of ‘I Don’t Need’, and secondly, look out next month for the ‘Hunt Hurt Hearts’ EP from our new signing Elias Tzikas.
