    Blue Rodeo

“Fools Like You” was originally written for Brian Mulroney after the Oka Crisis of 1990. The song is also a commendation to Elijah Harper for standing up in the Manitoba Legislature with his eagle feather and having the courage to say no to the Meech Lake Accord. Finally, it was a thank you to Chief Ruby Dunstan for inviting Blue Rodeo to participate in her victorious fight to protect the Stein Valley in BC.

It is sad to think that nothing much has changed and the voice of Aboriginal peoples is still being ignored by our government. Harper claims to be serious about making things right but if this were true, why did he dispose of the Kelowna Accord, an agreement which sought to improve the education, employment, and living conditions for Aboriginal peoples?
