@Otra Cities: or you could use Little Sound DJ (LSDJ) or nanoloop, or any DAW or synth really. sines squares and triangles are pretty common

@Tinted: The best way is with square-wave synths that are bitcrushed (downsampled). Triangle waves are another decent way (w/ bitcrusher). There is a VSTi called Triforce that specializes in 8-bit sounds.
