I like making music, have done for years, sometimes with a group, sometimes not. Perhaps I should elaborate... briefly.
First there was Auto Cosmetica. Half a gig, enough said.
Actually, now I think about it, first there was the Gigglies. Wednesday afternoons bunking off college and eating strawberry tarts and peach melbas. Me and Ande and sometimes Ben, playing Sensible Soccer, listening to Ween, smoking... Two c90's full of barely listenable 'songs' that we forced onto our friends. Or two free blank c90's as far as they were concerned! Everybody starts somewhere. And it was good fun!
Mr.Moore asked me to join Geek Theatre in 98, which I gladly did. A debut album 'Weird', on a tiny local indie label followed by re-release on an almost as tiny internet indie label, was helped by countless plugs by bbc radio 1 dj Zoe Ball and the local press. Reviews were of the 'if they can get the right people to listen' type... and then we did. Without a manager or any knowledge of 'the business' we set about talking to not quite so tiny indies until, one day, we received a proposal from a particularly huge international major label. They were keen to see a video of us. So promptly moving all our eggs into one massive basket, we hired 'directors' to produce an appalling video which didn't meet the deadline. The basket was upturned. eggs splattered all over the pavement, and the video never viewed by our suitors. By this time, the not so tiny indies had moved on and Geek Theatre never did. Real life and family and regular employment took over and Geek Theatre drifted away.
'We got five years'
Then music became fun again!
Electrocide started as me and Mr.Moore remixing a couple of Geek Theatre tracks and turned into a full blown project on our own KIN label.
Billy's Comet had always existed.. Friday nights getting wasted with whoever was around and my beloved Tascam Porta 05. It took three attempts to put together an album that wouldn't offend. Much.
Crackity Jones? My attempt to be the world's first one man Pixies tribute band. And to use Cakewalk.
Lime? Me and Mr.Moore's so far unrealized dream of getting back on a stage and reminding people that we were alright once upon a time. We go to gigs, get pissed and make plans. Then we get up and go to work.
And Robsonic? Well, that's just me...
Hope there's something here you like!
