Daddys little girl
©2010 Rob McMann
Well I loved to hold you in my arms and watch you drift asleep.
And feel your tiny heart beat next to mine.
Softly kiss your forehead, as you prayed your soul to keep.
You know I love you ‘till the end of time.
Well I love the way you gently tuck your hair behind you ear.
And how it falls back out in spite.
The way you shrug your shoulders, look at me and smile,
And know that everything will be alright.
And as the years go by, I know that I must let you find your way.
But it’s hard sometimes when I see this crazy world.
And I know you’re not a baby still but in my heart.
You’ll always be daddy’s little girl.
Well I know you’re off somewhere tonight trying to have some fun.
And I never want to rain on your parade.
And I want you to be happy, and I hope you find the one.
In time the pain of past romances fade.
I hope you find the one who treats well like you deserve.
And you want to be a mother and a wife.
But I hate to see you heart broke, and I hate to see you cry.
But I know sometimes it’s just a part of life.
Well you found someone and I know that he is everything you need.
And now you have some babies of your own.
I know you’ve got your own life now with little mouths to feed.
And I can’t get over just how fast you’ve grown.
But I want you to remember you are always in my heart.
And anything you need I’ll make it so.
Your whole life is ahead of you and you’re off to a good start.
But still you know I hate to see you go.
