About
Starting out his club life in London back in the 1990’s at Trade (Turnmills), Love Muscle (The Fridge), and various illegal raves in the UK and France, rickthebeard quickly learned to love House Music in all it’s forms; from Hard House to Handbag to NRG to Acid-Core.
rickthebeard desperately craved the decks and was soon learning and attempting to mix in his front room on very cheap decks at every opportunity. This became an obsession and he wanted more, so he joined forces with his closest friend (@NeilDowne) and together they created a mixing duo called Sugarfree. Together they DJ’d at private parties and ran a couple of weekly pre & post club events in London called Fierce (Soho & Kings Cross), this ran it’s course and eventually came to a natural end. rickthebeard then got on with life and eventually slowly left his decks behind.
15 years later rickthebeard picked up his headphones again, but this time he plugged them into his laptop and his new decks became virtual ones. Today rickthebeard mixes with VDJ (CUE) and mp3 files, not direct drive Technics and vinyl like in the 90’s ;)
rickthebeard is available for a regular residence or a try-out in a gay or straight dance club somewhere in the metropolis. If there is a club out there willing to take a step into the future of DJ'ing then contact rickthebeard now!!
Influences are minimal beats with a tech house edge.
“Always bouncy and always bringing you up” – rickthebeard.
rickthebeard’s sound works incredibly well in the harder underground clubs.
