Born and raised in Upstate New York, Rick O’Disko (government name: Richard Nacy) has loved dance music for as long as he can remember: “In elementary school, I used to get to class early so that my friends and I could dance to our disco 45s. ‘Ring My Bell,’ ‘Knock on Wood,’ anything by Donna Summer… we thought we were dead cool.” At eight years old, he asked for – and received – a strobe light for Christmas. “I set my room up as a discotheque.
