cosmonautactual
I've been in bands since I was 16, mainly rock orientated, I began Djing indie, rock, goth and later variations of beats and guitars. I started producing electronic music at the turn of the millenium taking influences from Warp records, Morr music, City Slang and then to Kitsune, Ed Banger and Institubes. I'm Hugely inspired by hybrid crossovers of rock, indie melody and dance, something I've always tried to bring to the bands I've been in. More recently I've turned my hand to remixing rock and indie bands with a heavy electro slant and hopefully somehead banging melody whistling danceability.
The Band: Cosmonaut
Cosmonaut is myself Richmanu and vocalist Julian Thorley now whittled down from the 5 piece crossover outfit to a simplified less guitar orientated two peice. We've been recording on and off for about 10 years. All the tracks I've uploaded are demo mixes from an album we're currently recording and will probably be finished in the spring of 2009....or at this rate by 2010. We are aiming to write music with one foot firmly placed in electronic dance music and throwing a few styles together and not sticking to one particular genre using Julian's quirky introspective oblique observational lyrics giving the whole feel of the songs a dark and sometimes sinister yet familiar edge. This isn't pop music though it really wants to be!
gorgeous vibe to this, great vocoder sound and delicious arp work. nice work Mr Cat :)
@makar: you said it mate!
aces! really like this
very laid back man, good effort...not really my cup of tea tbh but I didnt immediately turn it off, which is probably a good sign! ;)
@beetnik: haha cheers man, hope so, its getting some quite good feedback!
nice and mellow, like it
there's a distortion plug in by D16 called Redopter which is amazing, only recently discovered it but it will feature heavily on future bass lines.
nice vibe to this track, like it
nice bass
really vibing this, nice work! :)
i really like this hahaha where did you get all those sounds from?
this is quite good mate. like this bit
sweet track man. out of curiosity what synths are you using...also loving the snare and percussion. great work....wanna hear more :)
also whats synplant?
bloody fabulous BoB :)
@beetnik: ta, yeah this bit is getting some good feedback....maybe I shoulda just done this bit for four mins ;)
@bungs: yeah, it is deconstructed from an indie bands stems..theyre very much like mogwai in places and they love time signature changes too! so i straightened it out, haha
cheers matey! :)
well bouncy. I reckon a solid mix of this and you could have yourself a bit of a hit!!!! I'm finding its lacking bottom end and punch though eveything is a bit too wide, but overall you have a tune there for sure. very enjoyable. good effort :)
CLASSIC! :)
love the feel of this track, great vibe! good work man!
nice synth sound
this ace!!!! ha ha ha what a genius idea!
Great remix Matt (& Alex), nice and subtle, lovely vibe.

excellent monsieur Cat, great feel, lovely synths nice bass, you just keep getting better and better......lovin' it.
it does indeed kick ass...nice work!
Good remix. I like this lots. Nice work!
good effort mate, quite a grower!
these bits are ace
alright mate! pretty funky synths you have there indeed but I'm finding it is a bit thin and a bit sharp on the mid. I'm just wondering where the bass line is? I reckon give it another mix and pull some of the midrange back and give the bass line more presence. other than that is pretty catchy tune and the structure is fine! :)
@riptide: alright mate, I'm having a few teething probs with the upload of the stems, due to the fact they about 500mb (the entire file, fx channels included, was 1Gb) and you have to pay to get files that size hosted. hopefully at some point very soon I'll have a link for the basic stems. wont be long. Rich!
@Coin Operated Boy: ta mate, the occasional wide delay and subtle stereo panned backing vox does the trick!
@BoBSwanS: cheers mate if you wanna do a remix give us a shout!
@hidden-cat: aww cheers man, seemingly the end part is doing it for people. :)
@bobswans: what reverb did you use on it?
Really nice reverb on this love the laid back squelchy acid vibe. It reminds me of something else, dunno what though, which I guess is a good thing. I like it. good work.
actually I was expecting the bass line to be all cut up and staccato like....I dunno why I thought it was going to do that! Is this track using that mercury-1 vst you suggested? I couldn't find it anywhere, seems to have been discontinued (or I am possibly blind!). think I liked the lead synth best.
this is ace, love the synth sound, what did you use? nice vocoder too
@RipTidE: cheers man :)
nice work monsieur RipTide, I like this, really simple but effective.........maybe a bit too long though, I'd try an edit under 4.30 keep all your catchy elements contained....TBF I'm guilty of allowing myself to meander for 8-10 minutes too.
